OVERVIEW

An 8 day tour where you will discover within the region of the Pyrenees a variety of places - from the Pre-Pyrenees to the highest peaks, without forgetting the beautiful forests, the irregular slopes and the luscious green valleys.
We will walk through places such as the Ordesa National Park, Monte Perdido and the surroundings of Riglos, a different and surprising space on the peninsula. Whilst on the French side, we will see how the deep gorges rip into the landscape.

ITINERARY

DAY 1 - Arrival in Ayerbe via Pamplona

Hemingway’s Pamplona receives us and after a brief presentation we will travel to the first destination in the pre-Pyrenees, (Riglos) and transfer to Ayerbe. We will visit the Loarre Castle (the best preserved castle in Aragon).

DAY 2 - Los Mallos de Riglos (11 km)

The Mallos de Riglos are impressive geological formations that draw an amazing mountainous landscape and are a paradise for climbers. Its spectacular rocky landscapes welcome us for our walk today. We will visit the famous Ordesa National Park and Monte Perdido. Transfer to Torla.

DAY 3 - Bujaruelo Valley and Sarradet Refuge (round trip 18.5 km)

The San Nicolás de Bujaruelo hospital and its medieval bridge are our starting point. The valley was the entrance of past pilgrims and where we will take the same road and the mountain pass to France. A little further up we will find the Sarradet refuge and its views over the Gavarnie Cirque and the Gap that will be our resting point and where we will return along the same path back.

DAY 4 - Circus of Cariata and Cotatuero (14 km)

From the Prairie we go up to the Cariata Circus and walk along narrow paths in a magnificent mountainous environment. It is an impressionable sensation to be able to walk along this unique setting of the Ordesa National Park. We continue through the Fajas and after walking through the middle of the beech forest we end in the valley on the banks of the Torla river.

DAY 5 - The Hermitage of San Juan de la Peña (10 km)

After breakfast we travel to Santa Cruz de Serós and we will visit its 9th century church. We start walking along an old Jacobean path towards the Monastery of San Juan de la Peña. We visit the old monastery from the 9th century and climb the new one from the 18th century. We then return to our transport and head to Saint Engrace – France.

DAY 6 - Holzarte Gorges (14 km)

The French Basque Pyrenees has landscapes of green meadows and deep canyons crossed by fast flowing rivers. Today the trail takes us over the Olhadubi and Holzarte gorge, through the hanging bridges we cross the precipices of the mountains and walk along the paths of shepherds …

DAY 7 - La Verna (4 km)

A day dedicated to caving, a unique 3-hour walk underground, where we will discover a a magical world. We will return to the light and walk to the bottom of the valley, and then onto the Kakoueta gorges, a special place.

DAY 8 - Pamplona

After breakfast we make the transfer to the city of Pamplona. Lunch and a free afternoon to enjoy the alleys and the local history of this beautiful town in the best way possible – on foot. Transfer to the airport and end of the tour.
