Information

About this stage

The stage between Vigo and Redondela has an official distance of 16.3 kilometers, low difficulty, and an estimated duration of about 3 hours and 10 minutes.

The departure crosses some of Vigo’s most representative places before leaving the city. From the As Travesas area, the Way continues toward Alfonso XII Promenade, descends toward San Francisco, and crosses the historic maritime quarter of O Berbés.

The route continues toward Teis, north of the city. Here the landscape begins changing and urban streets gradually give way to higher zones with views over the estuary.

Upon leaving Vigo, the Way enters Redondela municipality via Chapela. From here it continues through different nuclei and parishes such as Paradela, Parada, Trasmañó, Cedeira, Rande, and A Portela before reaching Redondela.

The stage ends in a locality very linked to the Way. In Redondela the Portuguese Way by the Coast and the traditional Portuguese Way join, continuing together from here toward Santiago.

Recommendation from The Way

Recommendation for Stage 9: Vigo – Pontevedra

Although the stage is classified with low difficulty, the route is not completely flat. After crossing Vigo somewhat higher areas appear heading toward Teis and Redondela.

The day allows combining city and nature in few kilometers. The beginning is urban, while after Teis quieter and more open sections appear toward the estuary.

In Redondela municipality, the Way shares environment with the Water Path (Senda da Auga), although this entire route should not be confused with the official route.

The distance is moderate, so it is wise to reserve time to know Redondela and its main monuments upon finishing.
